Nico Rosberg has been an IWC ambassador since 2013, when, together with Lewis Hamilton, he became the first driver to join IWC’s family of ambassadors. This year IWC releases the Ingenieur Chronograph “Tribute to Nico Rosberg” to honour the world champion 2016 Formula One driver.

The IWC-manufactured chronograph comes in an 18-carat red gold case, measuring 42mm in diameter,  and was was designed by Rosberg himself in collaboration with Christian Knoop, Creative Director at Iwc Ingenieur Unboxing Replica Schaffhausen. A special feature of this watch is its see-through sapphire-glass back, which is printed with the “NICO” lettering from Rosberg’s helmet.

Limited to 23 watches, the Ingenieur Chronograph “Tribute to Nico Rosberg” (Ref. IW380805) recalls Rosberg’s 23 Grand Prix wins. The dial is slate-coloured and the hands are gold-plated. The watch is driven by an IWC-manufactured 69375 calibre, an automatic chronograph movement with a column-wheel control device. The bidirectional pawl-winding system generates a power reserve of 46 hours and the watch beats at 28’800 vph.

We have seen what the outcome can be if those things are done ‘incorrect’, such as the minute hand of the 39mm Rolex Explorer that is simply too short. The hour markers of the Iwc Ingenieur 46mm Replica Ingenieur benchmark 3239 matches the design of this silver colored hands perfectly. The date disc is black with white printing and doesn’t distract in any way. The entire dial is merely very clean and there is only little writing on the dial. It doesn’t even state ‘Automatic’. It is going to perfectly fit your small business suit in addition to your casual outfits and actions. Its design is not for everybody, as I noticed when I had an Ingenieur timepiece myself a couple of years ago and still notice when wearing my Royal Oak with similar appearance. If you care about what other people think about your view, there are other watches to buy (also from the IWC collection). However, if you stay true to your self and actually love the Genta lines and blend of satin polished and brushed finish, this IWC has your name on it. In the total IWC Ingenieur collection, I believe that is actually the funniest variant and it really would be the model I’d get myself , even if funding wouldn’t play a role. This reference comes to how it was meant to function as master. There are just two small things which more or less concern me a bit. One of these are the crown guards. The first Ingenieur SL1832 had no overhead guards and the 2005 revival of this Ingenieur (3227-01) didn’t possess them. Which I personally enjoyed to be honest. I wonder if they have ‘usage’ for me, since I am quite careful with my watches and have not seen visible damage to the crown guards of some of my watches. So they aren’t carrying any hits and blows. Perhaps it is more or less a ‘visual facet’ than a protective component. Well anyhow, the crown guards are on the IWC Ingenieur reference 3239 and it would not stop me from buying to be fair. Another minor thing is the motion.
